Tithi Today: Krishna Dwadashi — Wednesday, 7 October 2026

It is before sunrise in London, so the panchang day is still Wednesday, 7 October 2026; the next one begins at sunrise, 7:12 AM. On Wednesday 7 October 2026 the tithi in London is Krishna Dwadashi from sunrise until 6:47 PM, and Krishna Trayodashi after that.

Krishna Dwadashi began at 8:05 PM on 6 Oct. Running now (5:32 AM): Krishna Trayodashi, until 5:46 PM on 8 Oct.

Tithi start and end time — 7 October 2026

A tithi is the time the Moon takes to gain twelve degrees on the Sun, so it begins and ends at one instant for everyone — in every city on Indian Standard Time the clock time below is the same. What changes from city to city is sunrise, and sunrise decides which tithi names the day. A tithi runs about 20 to 27 hours, so most days carry two.

Paksha, Hindu month and samvat of today's tithi

Two reckonings name the same month differently for half of it. North India counts the month purnimanta, ending at the full moon; Gujarat, Maharashtra and the South count it amanta, ending at the new moon. In Shukla paksha both give one name; in Krishna paksha the purnimanta name is already the next month's. Both are shown, computed at this sunrise.

Tithi for the next 7 days

Each row is the tithi running at that day's sunrise in London, and the moment it ends. A tithi that begins after one sunrise and ends before the next is kshaya: it names no day, and the row says so.

Udaya tithi — why the sunrise tithi is the tithi of the day

The panchang counts a day from sunrise to the next sunrise, not from midnight. The tithi running at sunrise — the udaya tithi — is the tithi of that whole day, even when it ends at breakfast. A tithi that touches no sunrise is kshaya and names no day; one that touches two sunrises (vriddhi) names both. Festivals do not always follow this rule: Karwa Chauth is decided at moonrise, Diwali in pradosh kaal and Janmashtami at midnight, so each festival's own page applies its own moment. The start and end instants above are astronomy and are not in dispute; an almanac built on a different ephemeris model can print them a minute or two apart.

Tithi today in another city

Sunrise differs across India by well over an hour, so on some days the tithi that names the day — not only the sunrise time — differs between two cities on this list.

Tithi today — common questions

What is the tithi today?

On Wednesday 7 October 2026 the tithi in London is Krishna Dwadashi from sunrise until 6:47 PM, and Krishna Trayodashi after that. The tithi running at sunrise (7:10 AM) names the day, which is why Krishna Dwadashi is today's tithi.

What time does today's tithi end?

Krishna Dwadashi ends at 6:47 PM (London time). The end is one instant for everyone, so every city on Indian Standard Time shows the same clock time; only sunrise changes with the city.

What is tomorrow's tithi?

Krishna Trayodashi: it is running at sunrise (7:12 AM) on Thursday, 8 October 2026, so it names that day.

Is there a vrat or festival today?

No. Neither a festival nor a vrat falls today; the next is Ashwin Amavasya (Shani Amavasya, Mahalaya Amavasya) on Saturday, 10 October 2026.

Why do calendars sometimes show a different tithi for today?

Three reasons. Some calendars print the tithi at a fixed clock time, while a panchang takes the one at sunrise (udaya tithi). Sunrise moves with the city, so on a day the tithi changes between two cities' sunrises, their tithi of the day differs. And almanacs on different ephemeris models print the end a minute or two apart.
