Weekday: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Sunday (the Vedic weekday, which changes at sunrise). Never Tuesday or Saturday.
Nakshatra: the Moon in one of these 14 — Ashwini, Rohini, Mrigashira, Pushya, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, Shatabhisha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati.
Tithi: any tithi of either fortnight except Chaturthi, Navami, Chaturdashi or Amavasya.
Season: none — a child is named in whatever month it is born; only an adhika month is closed, as the reference list closes it. There is no adhika month in 2027.
When — guidance, not computed: the naming is traditionally held on the eleventh or twelfth day after birth, when the ten days of sutak end. A family that cannot hold it then, or holds it later — at three months or at a year is common — picks a date from this list.
