Rahu · 3rd House (Sahaja/Siblings)
Rahu in the 3rd House
Rahu in the 3rd is the self-made achiever: by the classical texts a malefic node in this upachaya house gives courage, enterprise, success over rivals, wealth and long life, with bold, persuasive communication.

- The planet
- Rahu: the Moon's north node, a shadow planet with no sign of its own — the significator of ambition, foreign things, technology, obsession and the unconventional; it gives the results of its sign lord and of the house it occupies

Ketu sits in the 9th.
Media, technology and sales suit it; its risks are recklessness and competing with siblings.
Which sign falls in the 3rd house depends on the lagna, and the sign changes Rahu's strength there. For a Pisces (Meena) lagna this house holds Taurus (Vrishabha), where Rahu is exalted; for a Virgo (Kanya) lagna it holds Scorpio (Vrishchika), where it is debilitated. The texts disagree on the nodes' exaltation signs; the table follows the convention the site's kundli uses, and a node also gives the results of its sign lord.

Rahu mahadasha runs 18 years. This placement speaks most clearly then — in Rahu's own mahadasha, in its antardashas inside other mahadashas, and in the dasha of the lord of the 3rd house. Saturn's and Jupiter's transits over this house, or over the planet itself, wake it too.

- Chant the Rahu mantra: Om Bhraam Bhreem Bhraum Sah Rahave Namah. Sit facing east after sunrise — Saturday is the strongest day for it. Chant 5 malas a day (540 repetitions), keeping count on a 108-bead mala. Keep it up for 40 days without a break — that completes the traditional 18,000.
- Give a Rahu donation. Give urad dal, blue cloth, blanket on Saturday, before noon. Offer it to someone the world overlooks, or to anyone in genuine need. Give quietly, in person, without expecting thanks.
- Daily practice for Rahu. Keep silver or elephant motifs at home; avoid second-hand items in the bedroom. Keep it up every day for 40 days — consistency is the remedy.
