Saturn Return Calculator

The calculator reads Saturn's position at your birth from the Swiss Ephemeris, the tables behind our kundli, then searches the years around each multiple of Saturn's 29.46-year orbit for every moment Saturn stands exactly on that degree again. Each crossing is pinned to the second; the page shows the date. The degree is the Western one (the tropical zodiac); the birth rashi beside it is the Vedic one (the sidereal zodiac, with the Lahiri ayanamsa our kundli uses).

Saturn moves so slowly that the date of birth is enough: an unknown birth hour moves a return by a few hours, not days. The birth place only sets the clock the dates are printed in.

Because Saturn turns retrograde for about four and a half months every year, it can pass your degree, slip back over it and cross it again: one return, three exact dates.

The 1st Saturn return falls between about 28 and 30, the 2nd between about 57 and 60, and a 3rd between about 86 and 89. The spread comes from Saturn's uneven speed and where the Earth is in its own orbit when Saturn arrives.

Western astrology reads the 1st return as a coming-of-age test: commitments get weighed, structures that do not fit are dropped, and responsibility arrives. The 2nd is read as a review of a life's work. These are descriptions from a tradition, not predictions; plenty of people notice nothing unusual.

Jyotish has no term for the Saturn return, but it reads the same event as Saturn transiting its own birth rashi, roughly two and a half years, alongside the running mahadasha. Two separate Vedic periods are often confused with it: Sade Sati, Saturn's seven and a half years over the Moon's sign, and Shani gochar, Saturn's transit through the twelve houses. Your Saturn return can overlap either, or neither.
