- Kharmas is closed: no marriage while the Sun is in Dhanu (Sagittarius) or Meena (Pisces) (16 December 2026 – 14 January 2027, 15 March 2027 – 14 April 2027 and 16 December 2027 – 15 January 2028).
- Chaturmas is closed: from the moment Devshayani Ekadashi begins (13 July 2027, 12:24) to the moment Devuthani Ekadashi begins (9 November 2027, 07:50).
- An adhika month is closed: there is no adhika month in 2027.
- Guru and Shukra must be clear of the Sun: no marriage while Jupiter is within 11° of the Sun or Venus within 10° (8° while retrograde) — the classical combustion (asta) orbs.
- Nakshatra: the Moon in one of the eleven vivah nakshatras — Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati.
- Tithi: never Amavasya. The rikta tithis (Chaturthi, Navami, Chaturdashi) are allowed, because the published almanacs allow them for marriage, and are marked in the table.
- Yoga and karana: the window avoids the nine rejected yogas — Atiganda, Ganda, Parigha, Shula, Vaidhriti, Vajra, Vishkamba, Vyaghata and Vyatipata — and the karanas Chatushpada, Kimstughna, Naga, Shakuni and Vishti.
- The day: sunrise to the next sunrise, for Kathmandu. A day that any closed season touches at all is left out whole; inside the days that remain, the muhurat is the time when every condition above holds at once.
