| Adhika Jyeshtha — adhika (extra) month | 17 May 2026, 1:31 AM | 15 June 2026, 8:24 AM |
- Where these rules come from: no text gives a sanskara rule for buying gold. The day the almanacs name for it is Pushya nakshatra — the one star held to bless a purchase whatever the weekday or tithi — and above all Guru Pushya, Pushya on a Thursday. This list is every Pushya window of the year; Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras, the two festival days named for gold, are listed beside it with their own windows.
- Weekday: any — this rule set does not look at the weekday.
- Nakshatra: the Moon in Pushya.
- Tithi: any — this rule set does not look at the tithi.
- Season: none. Pushya is taken in any month: Kharmas, Chaturmas and Guru or Shukra asta are not rules for a purchase here; only an adhika month is closed, as it is for every purchase on this site. Adhika Jyeshtha, an adhika month, runs from 17 May 2026 to 15 June 2026.
- Guru Pushya and Ravi Pushya: Pushya on a Thursday (Guru Pushya) or a Sunday (Ravi Pushya) is the most sought day for gold, and those rows are marked — 2 Guru Pushya and 6 Ravi Pushya days in 2026. The weekday is the Vedic one, which changes at sunrise, so a Pushya that begins on Wednesday night is a Wednesday row until Thursday's sunrise.
- Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras: the two festival days named for gold are tithi days, not Pushya days. Their windows are in their own table — the whole of Tritiya on Akshaya Tritiya, the good choghadiyas while Trayodashi runs on Dhanteras — computed by the festival pages' own engine.
- Pitru Paksha: a Pushya in the shraddha fortnight (26 September 2026 – 10 October 2026) is kept and marked — 2 rows in 2026. Traditions differ: many families buy nothing new in Pitru Paksha, while others hold that Pushya blesses a purchase even then.
- Pushya and a wedding: the star that blesses a purchase is not used for a marriage; the vivah list leaves Pushya out, by a separate rule.
- The day: sunrise to the next sunrise, for New Delhi. A day any closed period touches is left out whole; inside the days that remain, the muhurat is the time when every condition above holds at once, for at least 20 minutes.
- Not checked here: the buyer's own chart and Rahu Kaal on the day. Many families avoid Rahu Kaal for a purchase; the windows here do not cut it out, so check the day's Rahu Kaal for your city.
- One row per Vedic day. Some lists print one date per Pushya — the day it begins, or the day it covers most. This page prints every Vedic day the star touches, each with its own window, so a Pushya that runs across a sunrise is two rows.
- Other stars. Some guides also name Rohini, Hasta, Chitra or Revati for jewellery; this list keeps to Pushya, the one star every almanac names for gold.
- Adhika month. A Pushya inside an adhika (mala) month is left out, as every purchase is on this site; lists that do not close the adhika month print it.
- The city. The day starts at sunrise, so a window near dawn can fall on a different date in another city.
Common questions
How many gold buying muhurat dates are there in 2026?
26. By month: January 3, February 2, March 3, April 2, June 2, July 2, August 2, September 2, October 3, November 3, December 2. None in May.
When is the next gold buying muhurat in 2026?
Saturday, 31 October 2026, 5:39 AM – 6:32 AM (1 November), with the Moon in Pushya (times for New Delhi).
Which months of 2026 have no gold buying muhurat?
May — Adhika Jyeshtha, an adhika month, runs from 17 May 2026 to 15 June 2026.
Why is Pushya nakshatra good for buying gold?
Pushya, whose deity is Brihaspati, is counted among the light (kshipra) stars and held to be the most nourishing of the twenty-seven; tradition says what is bought in it lasts and grows. It is the one star the almanacs name for a purchase on any weekday and tithi — though not for a wedding.
Are Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras on this list?
They are beside it, in their own table: both are tithi days rather than Pushya days. On Akshaya Tritiya the whole of Tritiya is the time for gold; on Dhanteras, the good choghadiyas while Trayodashi runs.
Why does another panchang show different dates?
Each difference is set out above under 'Why other calendars show different dates' — which rules differ, and which windows this list keeps that others leave out.
