Muhurat Trading is a short special session NSE and BSE hold on Diwali's Lakshmi Puja day, when many trading families open new account books for the Samvat year. The exchanges are otherwise closed for Diwali; the session is a real one, and trades in it settle like any other.
- The custom comes from the account-book puja (chopda pujan) that Gujarati and Marwari traders perform at Diwali, and that Labh Panchami completes a few days later.
- The 2026 session falls on a Sunday: a weekend Lakshmi Puja does not move it, and the exchanges open for it.
- The muhurat windows above are the panchang's for that evening; the exchanges do not choose the session hour by them.
