Name Correction Numerology Calculator
Enter your name and date of birth. The calculator adds your name's Chaldean letter values into a name number from 1 to 9, checks it against your mulank (birth day) and bhagyank (whole date) on numerology's friendship table, and suggests one-letter spellings whose totals are friends of both. A spelling change is a personal choice, not a guarantee. Read the name change guide.

Calculator facts
Is your spelling a friend of your birth numbers?
- Chaldean letter values, the table Indian name numerology uses
- Mulank and bhagyank from your date of birth
- Every total and every suggested spelling worked out on the page
Worked example: Rahul Sharma, born 15 March 1990: the name adds to 33 → 6 (Venus), clashes with a birth number; 2 spellings below fit both birth numbers.
R2 A1 H5 U6 L3 = 17
S3 H5 A1 R2 M4 A1 = 16
Each letter takes its Chaldean value; together they make 33, then 33 → 3 + 3 = 6. Your name number is 6 (Venus).
Mulank 6 (the day of birth): 15 → 1 + 5 = 6 (Venus).
Bhagyank 1 (every digit of the date): 1 + 5 + 0 + 3 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 28 → 2 + 8 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1 (Sun).
| Name number | With mulank 6 | With bhagyank 1 | Fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 (Sun) | Challenging | Friendly | Avoid |
| 2 (Moon) | Neutral | Friendly | Good |
| 3 (Jupiter) | Friendly | Friendly | Best |
| 4 (Rahu) | Friendly | Challenging | Avoid |
| 5 (Mercury) | Friendly | Friendly | Best |
| 6 (Venus) (your name) | Friendly | Challenging | Avoid |
| 7 (Ketu) | Challenging | Neutral | Avoid |
| 8 (Saturn) | Friendly | Challenging | Avoid |
| 9 (Mars) | Friendly | Friendly | Best |
| Spelling | What changed | Working | Name number |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rahull Sharma | L written twice | 33 + 3 (L) = 36 → 3 + 6 = 9 | 9 (Mars) |
| Rahuul Sharma | U written twice | 33 + 6 (U) = 39 → 3 + 9 = 12 → 1 + 2 = 3 | 3 (Jupiter) |
5 (Mercury) would need a letter worth 8 (F, P), which none of the small changes above adds.
Wherever a letter goes, it adds exactly its own value to the total, so the new number depends on which letter you add, not where. Have another spelling in mind? Type it in the form above to check it.
A spelling change is a personal and cultural choice, not a guarantee: no controlled study shows that a name's spelling changes outcomes. If you change it, use the one spelling everywhere you sign. More in the name change numerology guide.
- Each letter of the name takes its value from the Chaldean table (below), and the values are added. A name typed in Hindi is spelled in English letters first.
- The total's digits are added until one number from 1 to 9 is left: 33 → 3 + 3 = 6. That is the name number, and each number has a ruling planet.
- The date of birth gives the mulank (the day) and the bhagyank (every digit of the date).
- On the friendship table, a name number that is a friend of both is traditionally the best fit; one that is challenging to either is traditionally avoided.
- Adding or doubling one letter adds that letter's value to the total. The calculator tries the smallest changes first: an A, E or O doubled, a consonant after a vowel doubled, a silent H, a final A, then any other letter doubled.
| Value | Letters |
|---|---|
| 1 | A, I, J, Q, Y |
| 2 | B, K, R |

| 4 | D, M, T |
| 5 | E, H, N, X |
| 6 | U, V, W |
| 7 | O, Z |
| 8 | F, P |
| 9 | none |
| Number | Friendly with | Challenging with |

| 1 (Sun) | 1, 2, 3, 5, 9 | 4, 6, 8 |
| 2 (Moon) | 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 | 4, 8, 9 |
| 3 (Jupiter) | 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 | — |
| 4 (Rahu) | 5, 6, 7, 8 | 1, 2, 9 |
| 5 (Mercury) | 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 | — |

- Pick one spelling and use it everywhere you sign: signature, nameplate, profiles.
- Changing the name on official documents is a legal process in India (usually an affidavit, a newspaper notice and a Gazette notification). Many people only change how they write the name day to day.
- Keep the pronunciation: a name is meant to be said, and an awkward spelling is a daily cost.
- Your mulank and bhagyank are fixed at birth; the name is the one number you can choose.
A spelling change is a personal and cultural choice, not a guarantee: no controlled study shows that a name's spelling changes outcomes. If you change it, use the one spelling everywhere you sign. More in the name change numerology guide.
Name Correction Numerology FAQ
What is name correction in numerology?
A small change to a name's spelling so that the Chaldean total of its letters gives a number that is a friend of your mulank and bhagyank. It is a tradition, not a science, and the change is your personal choice.
How is the name number calculated?
Each letter takes its Chaldean value (A=1, B=2, C=3 … F=8; no letter is 9), the values are added, and the total's digits are added until one number from 1 to 9 is left.
Which name number is lucky for me?
Traditionally, a name number that is a friend of both your mulank and your bhagyank. 5 (Mercury) is a friend of every number in the table, so it fits every date of birth.
Should I use my full name or my first name?
Use the name you write and say every day, as in your signature. Many numerologists check both the full name and the first name; you can check each one above.
Why does adding one letter change the number?
The letter adds its own value to the total wherever it goes. No letter is worth 9, so adding one letter always changes the name number.
Does a name change guarantee success?
No. No controlled study shows that a spelling changes outcomes. Treat it as a cultural choice, and be wary of anyone who promises results or claims 100% accuracy.
Chaldean or Pythagorean: which table is used?
Name correction in India mostly uses the Chaldean table, so this calculator does. The Pythagorean table (A=1 … I=9) gives the same name a different number.
